Another one from me. This time I have watched all of the movies and have tried various techniques without any luck.

OK I've added text to a path, Applied an outline and made the curve transparent. Now when I add my shadow to the text it also adds a shadow to the curve. I don't want the curve at all. How can I get rid of it without losing the shape of the text. So is there a way to break apart the text from the curve once the desired shape is achieved. Thanks in advance.

    Ah just figured it out.

Convert the text and curve to an editable shape then ungroup, delete the curve then apply the shadow.

    So easy! http://www.talkgraphics.com/images/smilies/rolleyes.gif

If you make the curve transparent by ctrl-selecting it (select inside) and then right-clicking on the no-colour icon at the left end of the colour line then it shouldn't cast a shadow. This way your text will still be editable as text and you can still modify the curve by switching to outline mode to select it.

Yes, keeping the text editable is easy to do while still applying your effects, likes shadows. I think there is a movie for that. Your line must be set to "none" in order for the effects to NOT show a revealed line.

An example Casey, just for you man! Took me about 45 minutes to do this. It's the eyes. Many layered objects but IMHO when things are TOO automated then it's no fun. http://www.talkgraphics.com/images/smilies/smile.gif

    Very Nice,

I wasn't looking for an automated way of doing it. Heck some of my images contain over 500 layers.

    Thanks for the info!

Purely out of interest, what do you do with 500 layers? The most I ever used was about 20, and *that* got confusing!

    Nice Image Casey!

I would agree with richard, You could probably do it in xara x1 with less than 500 layers. 350 maybe... http://www.talkgraphics.com/images/smilies/wink.gif http://www.talkgraphics.com/images/smilies/biggrin.gif
