Just thought I'd start this out.

    1) PLEASE give us a little more control over the Glow/Shadow Tool. A slider and/or type box would make this area of the tool MUCH improved!!

When dragging the glow outwards I don't see any way to control it to exact points (as you have control over the blur and transparency) so sometimes on a complex object pulling a glow outwards (or inwards) can be time consuming for it to draw itself and most of the time it's either too large or too small!! http://www.talkgraphics.com/images/smilies/frown.gif If a slider and/or type box were provided this area would be just about perfect!! http://www.talkgraphics.com/images/smilies/smile.gif

    2) A Mesh Tool would really come in handy for when you want to create a fill that "flows" with curved areas that are not exactly perfect ovals or rectangles (including circles and square shapes).

    3) and one that will get a whole new slew of mixed reviews but it's my wish so there!! http://www.talkgraphics.com/images/smilies/tongue.gif A built in Spell Checker!

    Thanks! http://www.talkgraphics.com/images/smilies/smile.gif

While we are on the shadow tool, I would like to be able to bring the shadow to the front of the object, not just behind. (i.e. 3D light source for my 2D object)

Another thing that would be nice is to have the NavBar tool update on the fly. When I enter a number of pixels space between buttons, and I don't get it right, I have to undo, and re-create the navbar until I get it right. This is a crummy trial and error way to do things when I have come to expect instant updates from Xara.

I'm sure I'll think of other things later.

    Cheers,
    Eric

Would it not be great if there was a feature request database; this would mean we had a single place for recording them, there could be a voting system, and Xara could make comments.

I know we could carry on using threads, but I have seen people v frustrated at having to say "I requested this back in 1875..."

I would offer to build and host it but it would be better to be part of TG as the same logon can be used.

    1) Improved "Paste Attributes" when used with shadows, bevels etc. The current behaviour is a bit idiosyncratic...

    2) Some sort of "stylesheet" system for attributes (including the above).

    3) I quite like the "double-click on a group to edit" feature in Certain Other Products.

    4) Maybe a bit more control over text flow - e.g. tabs and indents, separate line & para spacing. I know there's no point writing a wordprocessor, but it would be nice to (e.g.) do a hanging indent.

    5. OK - flamebait! Dump the MDI window and have free-floating document windows and palettes (*cough* Artworks *cough*). I like to use 2 monitors whenever possible, which is fine if you've (e.g.) got Xara on one and Photoshop on t'other, but working on 2 docs in the same app is a pain with MDI.

A couple of small changes to the text handling in XaraX would be nice:-

    1. Automatic text underlining - we have bold and italic buttons so why not underlining?

    2. direct entering of accented text instead of having to back space to delete excess accents - (PS I know this a topic covered at length in other parts of the forum - its just a problem that really drives me wild as a foreign language user of XaraX)

If you select your Default Unit to be Pixels, that selection should reflect everywhere, including line width.

    As noted in this thread:

(Bug or feature: This does work for font size, but the actual contents of the drop down menu will still be in points...)

    Very sensible opinion, I think.

Even Microsoft has seen the error in their ways and gotten rid of MDI in .NET (and even its Office applications), so hopefully Xara X2 will do just that as well.

Ummmm, Daniel, have you tried using the main work area NOT maximized?? You CAN then move your galleries over and out of the main work area very easily. So I imagine you could grab the corner of the main window and pull it to the size you need (just don't maximize it) and then drag your galleries over to the other monitor screen! See the screen shot below. http://www.talkgraphics.com/images/smilies/smile.gif Now imagine this with two monitors, it would work!! Personally for myself I'm all for having the option to dock the galleries to the side of the work area. So I'm on the oposite side of the fence here. Dialogs are more organized and easier to get too, IMHO!! http://www.talkgraphics.com/images/smilies/smile.gif

The only thing I think should be updated for the Galleries is to make them all the same size as they are pulled larger and make them sticky so they snap to each other (this would include any tool bars that are undocked too!!).

I'd also like when certain objects are selected, belonging to certain layers, the layer would automatically be selected for you. I have an issue when I am working away and may have selected another layer to work in and forget to re-select the layer where I want the objects to live and so then I have to select all those objects and click the "move" button to get them where I need them. When you are involved with a HUGE project (like the Space Being) you have so many things you are working on at the same time it would just make the work flow a little smoother!
