Eye Candy Bevel and Shawdows

I was having a problem in PI5 and still in PI6 with Eye Candy Bevels. The Bevel is all around the image on the background, not just the text that I am trying to bevel. Drop shadows are just as bad.

I have to go to Paint Shop Pro to do the text with beveling and shadows.

I must be doing something wrong, but can't figure it out. Is there a particular way to do this so it looks good?
