Thread: Guides question

I think I've seen some comments to the effect that our default position of the guides layer (under all others) is wrong, and that people would prefer it to be on top of all others. I guess they are lot more visible that way. Do people generally agree?

    Charles,

I like the idea of the guides being on top by default, with perhaps a right click, menu option to send to back, bring to top.

    Absolutely! (On top, that is)

And how about some "smart guides" while you're at it (tangent, midpoint, edge, corner etc.) Virtually de rigeur de rigeur for most high-end vector|CAD programs today.

    Hi Charles.

Yes ... guidelines are much more helpful if they remain on the top layer ... however, of more importance to me is the ability to quickly align objects to each other and to the page.

Guides on top, on default. I agree. It's easy to alter it's level in the layer gallery so it won't harm to have it on top on default.

    On top.

Many of us cut our teeth in CorelDRAW which has the guides on top.

(Anyone who prefers to work this way now can just drag the Guides layer on top of the Layer 1 layer.)

Speaking of alignment, is there anyway to fix the alignment dialog so that you can undo without closing the dialog?
