I was at college this morning when a classmate told us about this. We went to MSNBC.com immediately and when we saw the visual, my heart fell through the floor. It brought back sad, sad memories of the Challenger disaster. I wanted to cry. What a tragic loss. Seven heroic lives lost.

What is left of my heart goes out to the families of those aboard.

It is sad when any pass in the line of duty... here,in the name of science and the unknown...

To those who perform these duties we offer our thanks and condolences...

About the only thing I could think of was, "We've gotten so we take the shuttle launches for granted, and this restores perspective about how gingerly it is that we fly into the Heavens."

What a loss. What a tragedy. My family and I went to the local iMax and saw a commemorative film on the space program narrated by Uncle Walter (Cronkite); everyone's unlce as we grew up and into America's space program.
