Hey right on Gare... looks pretty straight forward and the results look nice... I am wondering if the top and bottom faces/caps are ngons or if there is a mesh generated for these... how does trueSpace handle this?

    thanx

If you look closely at your work, you will see that the top and bottom faces are polygons, smoothed a little into splines using God-knows-what technology at Caligari, however, they are consistently smooth.

Great tutes Gary. Has anyone else received an offer from Caligari to upgrade to TS4.3 for $79?
Is it worth upgrading for the extra features?

    Cheers

    Roger

    Thank you, Roger---

If you're getting somethong out of trueSpace and you are happy with the course you are taking, I'd consider paying the $79: It includes metaballs and displacement mapping. Metaballs make organic shape creation very easy, and it's more or less a standard feature on high-end programs. You laos might want to consider Carrera; you can download a free three month demo, folks here on this forum have nice things to say about it (I've been playing with it and the interface is like Poser and Bryce), and it's an outgrowth of Ray Dream Designer, if you've had experience with it in the past.

I'm still trying to master version 5.2, but will continue to write on the free version, version 3.
