Gidge--
I just upgraded to Maya 6, and this has blown my entire learning curve. Yes, I've done some animations (they're easy), but NOTHING worth posting yet. I'm eating up my spare cycles writing a very unusual book...nothing to do with Photoshop or even computers.
Kiwi---my current take is that much of the movie was done using traditional glass mattes and Lightwave. Maya was used to build Tutenkapf's rocket and the giant mech men. And Adobe After Effects was used for titles, transitions, and some rotoscoping. Houdini, alas, was not used BUT they DID use Houdini for principal character animation in Spider-Man.
Happy Halloween, everybody.
