First up, make sure your slice rectangle has no line on it (a bit obvious but it has caught me out before!).

Secondly, try creating a bitmap copy of the graphic then slicing that rather than the vector - you tend to get cleaner lines.

Also, for some reason (probably anti-aliasing), I often get better results by taking a slice of the shape with consistent fills each side and then nudging the cut out piece to the left or right by a few pixels. This tends to avoid this kind of problem.

Just discovered another way of doing it - see attached mini tutorial...

    Hope this helps,

    James

The answer to your problems is NOT TO SLICE them. I know it sounds daft, but I suggest you look under the help files under "export image in slices". Better still if you've got the CDROM version check the tutorial on this section. It's a bit long winded to explain here, but basically your exporting shapes above the object your exporting, so no slicing and therefore no joins.
James' final method appears to be using a simlar mode.

I found out, that after slicing, the object you use to slice with is grouped with the slice. Select the slice. Ungroup it. Delete the buttom black slice, creata a bitmap copy, and the rest is just perfect.

You can see the result here. The page is, when it's finished, a presentation for Bose music systems and Löwe Televisions. What you see following the link is only the basic layout which is still being ajusted.

    Any comments? Please.

Now that 'W' has been so kind to post a small screenshot of the website, could someone (Gary?) comment on my choice of colours?

This seems fine for 90degree cuts but what about this, see link

    My Gallary page

Got round it with feathering, but have seen others do it without.

I used 'Arrange->Combine Shapes->Intersect Shapes' when i created this compas But intersect shapes didn't work for me for the purpose of cutting graphics into small pieces used for a frame on a website.

See below. Simple Black bar to pink bar blend.

With a skewed square. Below is with the intersect shape ungrouped and the back blackground removed.

Added - jpeg does not look too bad but you can see the lines even after that.
