I'm not sure if anyone has answered the question.

Are you referring to joining two lines, or more than two lines?

Joining two lines is easy. Well, not difficult. Select both lines, Arrange > Join Shapes. Now, using the Shape Editor Tool, drag one of the joined end points a little way away and then back over the other end point. The cursor displays a + to indicate that the lines are now officially joined and what one man hath joined together let no man put asunder, or something like that.

If you are taking about joining more than one line (path) and having the lines joined, and still paths? I do not believe that is possible. In Xara or in CorelDRAW. I'm sure there is a very good reason for this and if Charles gets down this far perhaps he can explain why.

I was actually thinking of one of the fractals which comprised a "wiggly line" but not a closed shape. To make it a single line meant dozens of line segments needed to be joined end-to-end. That was the problem.

    D'oh! <slaps forehead>

Import, ungroup, select all, join open ends, regroup. Add shapes, break, break original open points, remove the joining bit and you've added all the line segments!

    Problem solved!

This method works best if you make the original lines 0.01 line width. This way you avoid unwanted additional nodes.
