Hello, i recently ran across a post in the gallery that gave me cause to pause and think. its a drawing of a nude. personally i wonder if the xara forums shouldnt be the one art forum in all of the internet where nudes arnt posted. I may be just and old fuddyduddy but with the popularity of theses forums and the wide range of beliefs, not to mention age of those who visit, I wonder if nudes are really appropriate. There are plenty of other forums where nudes can be posted. What does everyone else think?

The nude that you aere referring to was a great piece of art and I find no problem with it being posted here. This coming from a guy born & raised in the heart of Mormon country. It's all in the eye of the beholder, what you want to see. There are plenty of other places on the Internet that junior can see nudes, much more explicit than the art that occasionally pops up on these forums.

    Just my 2 cents.

I guess you have never seen Venus rising from the sea or other nudes by the Masters. The drawing in question was IMHO one of the finest postings in the gallery because of its elegant simplicity. These forums sometimes deal with art, what a concept!

All of you have made some good points. The image in question actually wasn't that graphic at all. You see more on TV these days (even TV cartoons for kids).

I have no problem with the particular piece. Personally think it is very nice in it's simplicity.

But Tomh21 is right to a degree. We don't want to see the forums here get too graphic in the nudity area. I think most of us would agree that this really isn't the place for nudity of an extremely graphic nature. (there are a few "yung'uns" on this board)

But then, these forums have always been fairly clean, and I expect that they always will be simply because of the quality of the visitors, the members, and most importantly the moderators.

tomh21, you are kidding us, aren't you ??

You can't possibly see this picture as 'nudity' ??

Should we rip the Botticellis, Rubens, van Dycks, the Rembrandts off the museum walls to protect our children ??

Should kids no more be allowed to enter Florence, in case they could see the David ??

I guess even though there may be some youngsters here, we are well aware what fits and what doesn't. I found this picture absolutely stunning and I wish I could do that myself.

I take your posting as a joke ...

If the image was porngraphic, or offensive to women, as was one animated version of Betty Boop, then we might ask the poster of the image to remove the image.

Artists have traditionally painted and drawn the nude figure, and I hope they always will. There is nothing wrong or shameful about the nude figure as long as it is portrayed with dignity and taste.

If I were not a moderator in this conference, I would comment on the shameless attempt to censor content based upon personal values and beliefs, but I won't

How many images have been posted in these conferences? And out of that number, how many have portrayed the human figure? I don't think we exactly have an epidemic here. :-)
