I've just installed Corel Draw 11 [on windows XP ].
the program opens, but when i choose any option, (new graphic...), an error report window opens :

CorelDRAW(R) has encountered a problem and needs to close. We are sorry for the inconvenience.

    WHY??!!!

oh, and by the way i also tried installing version 10, it did the same thing!

Possibly because you do not have a default printer available and online.

If this is not possible to have the printer on line (e.g. it is a laptop_ , install a printer driver and set the output port to FILE:

It didn't work, I don't have a printer installed right now but i still have the driver installed.
Never mind, I got version 8, and it works fine. I think it's good enough (it's basicly the same no?).
    Thanks anyhow http://www.talkgraphics.com/images/smilies/wink.gif

I had the same problem with Corel Draw. Eventually I just gave up and installed a different program.
I was able to install Corel photo-paint however, go figure! - AF

there is service packs that will fix those issues. just read the instructions first. version 10 and 11 are very buggy. corel 12 runs fine.

Juli, What Mike is refering to is the service patch that is provided by Corel support, not the Service pack 2 for Windows XP.
Go to www.corel.com and navigate to the (service) update patch by clicking on "support" then click on the update link for Draw 12, then use the drop down window to find your version of Draw. Whew! - AF
