Hello!
I've searching for help on this topic but nothing:
Can I print a Xara X image across multiple pages? Some kind of "poster", like publisher does...
I really need the help!

I don't think that there's any feature in Xara that will do this automatically for you.

There may be some sort of manual workaround for this problem, but I'm not aware of it, although somebody will probably have an idea soon (there's always someone who knows how in this forum )

BTW, welcome to the forum Daniel. How long have you been using Xara?

Daniel,

I'm not sure if I understand you correctly or not. If you want to print to a poster size such as 36" x 36", yes you can do this. You may have to print as a bitmap depending upon the type of objects you've created in X. I never had any problems in CorelXara printing flipcharts to our HP DesignJet plotter.

There is a template file (which is a xara file) which has info in it for printing to a plotter that you can download from www.xaraxone.com. Just go to the freeware section and look for the templates.

Here are a couple of methods:

<LI>Create your artwork on a correct sized page, then select all / group / copy / paste it onto a printer sized page. Enable Window > Show Print Borders and move the artwork to print one corner. Move the artwork to print the next section and continue until done.
<LI>Decide how many printed pages will constitute your poster then create a rectangle that fits into your artwork that many times, placing it to align with a corner. With the rectangle selected, remove its outline and fill colour then Arrange > Create Bitmap Copy (24 bit). Select the resulting bitmap and File > Print > Selected objects, having previously set File > Print Options > Print layout > Best fit. Delete the bitmap and reduce the view quality to outline then CTRL-drag one side of the rectangle so it flips over into the next position. Reinstate maximum view quality and repeat the above process until done.

A limitation of the last way (and something I didn't mention) is that you have to create high resolution bitmap copies to get the best out of your printer. This is time consuming and may sap your resources, so an alternative way, using X's new ClipView feature, is as follows:

Create a rectangle, dimensioned as before, and remove its outline. Place over a corner then Arrange > Move to Back, select everything and Arrange > Apply ClipView. Print selection as before then click undo until the rectangle appears over the artwork again and flip it into the next position. Apply ClipView to successive sections and keep printing until done.

I should have added that in both the rectangle methods you still need to position the bitmap / ClipView within the print borders. Also, on reflection, using Best fit is no advantage and may cause undesirable effects - just make sure your rectangle fits within the print borders. When you select Custom fit, reset the scale to 100% and the Top and Left offsets to 0.
