I have been keeping an eye on this program ever since Ross Macintosh posted about it.

    David Schmitz, http://www.schmitzware.org
has developed a OBJ exporter for SketchUp models.
    Read for info http://www.sketch3d.com/forum/read.p...&i=8783&t=8783

With this exporter SketchUp is a very handy box modeling system.

This image is a test I did with the Sketchup Demo program and the OBJ exporter to see if it would work with Poser, the textures on the building were applied in Sketchup before export. The only problem I had was the Z axis had to be rotated -90 deg. The tree is an Xfrog model.

    FUN!

looking cool so far Mike... [thums up]

yea, Carrara changes the axis on yas as well... has an option to change from y to z but that don't cut it as the model comes in on the side instead of facing backwards... so both are wrong... a rotate in order each time... hehe, oh well...

Yea, sketch up is cool eh? It sure looks like you are hav'n fun... thnx for the links, I am sure somebody will find these very handy indeed

Sure wish it was the same price as Wings

    Hi Gidget,

Yea, Zbrush mirrors geometry on ya , when you start bouncing stuff around between apps you are gonna run into problems, figuring work arounds out is part of the fun eh!

Carrara's got some nice tools, I have ver.2 as well. I don't use the renderer so I won't be upgrading to ver 3.

About using Sketchup, I believe poser likes the 3ds exports better than the obj export. If I make a hole the obj exporter looses it, 3ds seems to get it right but doesn't create a texture file, so I have to do it manually. I'll get a work flow figured out eventually.

    So do I.

Thanks Mike, I'll have a look at it too, since I had a few problems lately when I tried to export

haha, actually with me it is sort of the other way around... export obj to say C4d, and the texture/color info is not there, same same when into obj ex to Carrara, yet Amapi pulls all through ok but, really is a dogged app, the latest v7.whatever... and yet 3ds puts the info accross just fine to pretty much every app I would have it go to...

    hmmmm....
