i don't know if this is of any interest but below is a reply that i received from epson

"I am replying to your recent email regarding your Stylus Photo 1290. I am
glad to inform you that the above printer will print edge to edge without
using Photoquicker. The printer driver on its own has the option to select
no margins. This will only work if the software you are printing from allows
the function. "

And it's kind of finiky. Sometimes it will hang on a print from Xara and I will have to reboot because, the offending process isn't listed in the task manager so I can't stop it.

I would take a look at the new HP that prints the same sizes as the Epson but it has each of the six colors in an independent cartridge.

The Epson has a black cartridge and a 5 color cartridge and I go through them sometimes 2 in one day. That gets expensive.

You'll still have to replace the HP cartridges, but at least you won't be throwing away 4 good color inks when only 1 runs out.

thank you for the info. i had wondered about espons 2 catridge setup although must say, having already got an epson i do really like their printers and output.

will check hp out.
