When I try to save one of these pages with internet explorer 6 I save a blank page.
Am I doing something wrong or is this only possible by right clikking with the mouse on the topic in the Xara X topic list?

    Sorry for my English!

Thank you for your friendly words and quick replay, Mr.Gary Priester.

No I am sorry this isn’t the answer to my question, because when I do this (with the Off line option on) I can't see the page without an Internet connection.
And that is what I try to do.

    Fancy meetin' you here!! http://www.talkgraphics.com/images/smilies/biggrin.gif

Saving an entire web page is very easy.

(File/"Save As" or File/"Save Page As" are your File drop down menu and a selection with in that menu, just for reference)

    In IE:

File/Save As type: Web page, complete [*.htm, *.html]

    In Mozilla or Netscape:

File/Save Page As: Save as Type: Web Page, complete.

What this action does is save the HTML page along with a folder (named the same as the HTML file) with the needed files in it.

If you choose to move the HTML file then the folder will have to go along with it. If you attempt to put the HTML file into the folder for easy storage of both then you will not have a properly functioning page displayed when you double click on it to view it!! The HTML file and folder must remain seperate and they must always be in the same location in order for the page to display correctly.

I hope that helps you out!! http://www.talkgraphics.com/images/smilies/smile.gif

    Hallo Richard,

This works for other pages >for example your Home Page< but not for this site, because I get the error [in Dutch this is: Kan de webpagina niet opslaan op de geselecteerde locatie)
What means something like: Can’t save the page on the selected location

But there is nothing wrong with the location I think, because then I shoot get the same error with your home page to.

As an aside to this topic, you may be interested in a proggy called Webcatcher to download and store single web pages.. I've been using it for over a year now and having tried many similar apps, I find this one to be one of the best.

    Using WebCatcher, you can:

. Save web pages easily. IE integration.
. Consolidated management, there is no need for you to look for files all over your hard disk.
. Manage saved web pages: powerful management feature, you can add, delete, rename, move, combine the web pages freely.
. Import pages (including text files) that already exist on your hard drive.
. Add attachments, passwords and comments to web pages.
. Add password protection on your data.
. Search the information that you interested quickly.
. Import saved web pages to one database file.
. Export data to folder or .CHM file.
. Make an .EXE file, share your collection with your friends, etc.

I use it for many purposes, but I really like the way I can quickly save a web page to a proper database and have everything together in one place. The app is stable and support is pretty good too.

You can get more info and download an evaluation at http://www.wizissoft.com

BTW I have no affiliation with this application or it's publishers. I'm just a (very) satisfied user and I just thought I'd pass on the info for those who may be interested. If this post is inappropriate, I apologise.

Have you got your IE security set up to high?? That may be part of the reason too!!

Go to Tools/Internet Options/Security. You should see the Internet icon (first in the list) highlighted. Then go to the Custom Level and make sure it's set to "Medium" and the click Apply where needed and then close out of there and restart IE. See is that's not what's causing this.

I can save pages in both IE and Mozilla with out a problem!! So other than your security settings I'm not sure what else to suggest. Maybe Soquili has the answer!!

Oh Soquili, where art thou?? http://www.talkgraphics.com/images/smilies/biggrin.gif

This is really strange. I'm getting the same error as Coby. "The Web page could not be saved to the selected location". I've tried all the suggestions everyone has posted and none corrected the problem. I've tried several other changes in IE settings; again, none corrected the problem. I don't think it is in IE, as other pages on other sites save without an error.

Each time I tried to save the file it would reach 98% completion before the error would occur.

    I'm using IE6 service pack 1.

It may interest some of you to know that when you save a web page it actually copies the files from your temporary internet files folder and not from the web site. Therefore it is possible to reconstruct the page from the temporary folder; although not an easy or pleasant task http://www.talkgraphics.com/images/smilies/wink.gif

Hi Richard, I had a slight technical difficulty connecting to the internet for a couple of days. Lightening took out my telephone surge suppressor and I had to locate a replacement http://www.talkgraphics.com/images/smilies/frown.gif Fortunately it saved my modem http://www.talkgraphics.com/images/smilies/biggrin.gif
