Yes, Xara, please add this capability...then perhaps I will have to use Illustrator less.

Perhaps it might help if I knew what on earth it was all about

Do I need it? Perhaps someone will take the time to enlighten me.

is pretty much the common export format for 3d programs as well as AutoCad.

It's a great advantage to create something in a 3d program, export it as DXF, import it into Xara (if Xara had this ability) and color it. Stretch it, use it as a wireframe etc.

I would like to see full on 3d models brought in with rotation, textures and lighting.

But maybe that's wishing for too much

In fact, what is needed, or wished for is "translator software". You put in one file type and you can translate it to another one. This would free lots of software from having to make program plugins.

If you don't work against time, time often works for you.

Hi. I have used a cadconverter in some projects - look at http://www.cadwizz.com/cadcv_1.htm .

In one project http://home.online.no/~torkver/sandblast.html I got a dxf-file (or dwg)- exported from Microstation - which I converted to wmf and then imported to Xara ( Most of the the graphics on the website is created with Xara).

In my project I mentioned above, I remember that I used Xara to prepare a digital photo. First I converted the photo to a black and white, and then I used the transparency tool in Xara to create a nice blue sky in the background - simple and nice? Here is the photo:
