When a new brush is created such as the one in my attachment, Xara puts the next object in line on top of the preceding object as in fig 1.I tried reversing paths and the same thing happened. Is it possible to have Xara place the next object in line behind the preceding object as in fig 3?I know this effect can be accomplished using blends but sometimes it would be handy for brushes do the same thing.

what you are trying to accomplish here.

Did you use one shape for your brush stroke, or a series of shapes?

Let me try again. Yes, the brush was created with one shape (Fig 1). Fig 2 is a line with the new brush shape applied. In fig 2 shape #2 is placed in front of shape #1 I suspect as a default setting. I would like to be able to apply the new brush shape to a line as in fig 3 with shape #2 behind shape #1 if it is possible. Thanks for your response.

clone the line, then change the setting, then move the clone forward or backward to any position.

Is that the answer you were looking for?

Unless I am not following your directions right. I appoligize for my lack of communication skills trying to express what I wnat to find out. Here is one more attachment that might show what I am after. If it does not make sense I won't bother you any more with this particular question. I know you are a very busy person and I appreciate you taking the time to respond.

I'm probably being very stupid, but won't you get the effect your after by drawing the line from right to left instead of left to right?

what you are really after is a reverse of the iron profile. Unfortunately Xara does not have this the nearest you would get would be by applying the bow tie profile and fading the end you did not want. You would still have to convert to shape though.

Perhaps Xara will allow reversing of profiles (or even creating your own profiles)in the next version.

Is if we could define our own brush strokes.

I wonder if you could fake the effect by using a multi-object blend instead?

I think Christine hit the nail on the head. I can get the effect I want using a blend and blend along a curve. The reason I wanted a line to do this is because of the variations that can be achieved using the line edit tool. Yes Gary, it would be very cool if we could define our own brush stroke profiles. Maybe Xara LTD. will consider this in the next version. Thanks again.
