    Okay Ken
Here's mine. It's for a web site I'm working on and the image is based on a very well known British WW1 recruiting poster of Lord Kitchener. It's for a flash site so unfortunately featherings out of the question.

Must say I love these threads, just seeing the diversity of Xarian art.

    Hi Egg,

Looks good so far. Too much of one color to look great tho. Here is an idea. Take original recruiting art, drop colors to 16, do a trace, drop each color to a separate layer, key layers drop into flash...

Is it worth a try? Here is a quick test with a gif output from flash. 20 minutes...

    Cheers John
However the trace method, whilst acceptable, creates vector images that are often twice the size of the original bitmap, which of course defeats the object of creating a vector in the first place. I wanted to create a vector fot 2 reasons. 1: To reduce the file size over a bitmap version 2: To animate the image in Flash. Trying to grab parts of a traced image which you desire to animate becomes very hit & miss etc, so I prefer just to draw it in the first place.

    Hi Egg,

I would agree on a full color trace. Reduce the number of colors to a minimum then do a trace. The above example was a 29K jpg and a 12k animated gif. The gif is even bigger than the jpg (height X width).
