Some server in India is spoofing my e-mail address. I just received a barrage of 20 messages the last time I checked my messages. All from me and covering a wide range of subjects, mostly porn.

If you receive anything from me, that does not seem like it is from me, it probably is not. Especially if it has an attachment.

Delete the message and please accept my apologies for this.

Sheesh. The Internet used to be such a nice and fun place. Now I feel like just dropping out and going back to sending messages on paper and sent in an envelope.

I received 94 of these imbecilic Emails in one day. They have set up software to harvest business Email addresses and then the moronic attacks begin.
They are now including many numbers in their messages to slip under spam filters.
When you look at the wonderful power of the internet as so evident in and around this forum
it is just like weeding the garden or flushing the loo to get rid of these less than wise
    purveyors of sadness.

Gary, is it really sending emails that are supposedly coming from you? Or did it just spam you but put yourself as the 'from' address? I've seen that before.
I'd start a revolution, if I could get up in the morning.

That happened with my previous ISP. The majority of the messages appeared to originate in Korea. I was unable to bounce the messages with Mailwasher because they would bounce back to me. http://www.talkgraphics.com/images/smilies/mad.gif
I haven't had any problems since starting with my new ISP.
Fingers crossed & knock on wood http://www.talkgraphics.com/images/smilies/rolleyes.gif

Yes,,,, and you were once a teenager.

Come on guys, spam just comes with the territory.

Now the viruses, trojans, worms, etc... THEY are beginning to get troublesome.

    I agree Tad.

It's not easy in life on or off of the internet. As a man living with HIV (a virus, trojan horse and worm all mixed together http://www.talkgraphics.com/images/smilies/biggrin.gif ) I look at the internet as just another 'body' to take care of and be careful what you do with it! http://www.talkgraphics.com/images/smilies/smile.gif

If you have MailWasher and good virus protection set up and are vigilante then your going to be OK and not get your nerves rattled or your hard drive infected. Sure it's a pain in the @SS but it's life.

I probably get about 20 to 30 spams a day and some were infected with a virus, trojan or worm that together with Earthlink and Norton remove the infected email and send me a note to let me know that things are OK! Earthlink is a good ISP even though they get a bad rap sometimes.

Yea, all this crap gets to me here and there but it goes with the territory. All you can do is hope the universe heaps a big dose of Karma on those that would disrrupt and even go as far as to ruin ones computer with such things. http://www.talkgraphics.com/images/smilies/tongue.gif http://www.talkgraphics.com/images/smilies/mad.gif http://www.talkgraphics.com/images/smilies/tongue.gif

    Tad

I'm still a teenager, three times over.

The messages have my return address and for all intents and purposes appear to have been sent by me.

I was able to track down the ISP in India from where the messages were being sent (from me to me--so weird). I sent them an urgent message and included some of the complete message headers.

They responded and asked me to give them my accout number with their service so they could verify me! All I can figure is since they are in India, they must be outsourcing their tech support to the USA :-)

    Truly weird, truly weird!!

Its' like you were doing a "denial of service" attack on yourself.

Gary, I think it is totally hopeless.
I'm going to configure a "sacrificial lamb" computer for the internet.

I'll let you know how it works out.

    tad
