I use IE 6 & can send to others a picture by selecting the insert/picture, but before that I select format/send picture wuith message.
It seems others cannot receive my picture. I prefer not to send attachments as virus's come from them.
Anybody got suggestions to accomplish this.
    Thanks

Why are you selecting the Format option? Have you tried it without doing that? If you are sending it to people who have an .aol address, the pictures will go as an attachment rather than an inserted image.

The format option seem to work with those that have IE 6 but not AOL as you have said. I do not want to send as an attachment as I previously said. BTW the format suggestion came vai PCDon if you are familiar with them, they are in California.
    So the answer is:
AOL has to send as an attachment
MS Outlook Express I can send without the attachment.
    Any others I don't know.
I also am thinking of a Holiday card.

Let me re-word this & try again.
How do I send a greeting or picture to someone but not as an attachment?
As soon as they get their email the greeting or picture is there.

Maybe you should think of it this way. What e-mail program do they use to read your mail? Different programs displays mails differently. My best suggestion is to use one that's the same as the person receiving the mail.

I understand what you are saying but for instances a Webpage was sent and they receive that as a picture not as strictly an URL to goto first.
I am assuming there must be a way, maybe a lot of steps but there must be a way to send greetings without going to an url or opening an attachment.
How do AOL, MS, etc receive or send there greetings that show without going to an URL?
I will try some things from here but I thought someone knows how.
    Thanks,

There has to be a way

Arthur, if I understand you correctly, you want to send email with the image imbedded in the mail so when they open the email, they will see the image immediately, right?

If so, it's incredibly simple. In OE and IncrediMail, start your message, then click on Insert\Picture. A window will open so you can find your image and insert.

Be aware though, those on AOL will still get it as an attachment. I did hear that those with the latest version get it correctly but have not verified that. If a person's email is set to not display images, they will get it as an attachment. And too, some people can only receive plain text - they too will receive it as an attachment.

You have no real control over how the receiver will get the image. You can set it up the way you want it but that doesn't guarantee the receiver will get it the way you sent it.

Thanks ML. I understand about generally sending an email to different IE, AOL, etc but what I am trying to do is to see if I can eleminate the attachment for afore said reasons. One of the possibilities brought up in another forum is placing on a website then sending it. I haven't had a chance to try that yet but will.
BTW my PC bought the farm so I went out out & purchased a XP PC. Needless to say still putting it like I like. Almost there.
