Any chance of giving XaraX1 the ability to import Tiff LZW files?

Hi John,
I think there is a problem with licence fees, and as far as I remember they are relatively high.

We can't solve problems by using the same kind of thinking we used when we created them.

Er, don't understand. Xara X does load and save lzw TIFF files.
John,
Are you getting the "bad colour depth error?" If so, the TIFF LZW had been saved with a Mac byte order. Open the file in Photoshop and just resave with "PC" and it will open fine.
Xara X can't open the "Mac" saved files for some reason. I know I bug reported that eons ago, but had forgotten about it, until you brought it back up.
This shows the results of a test I just did where I tried to import LZW tiffs (created by XaraX) into XaraX.
None of the LZW files could be imported by XaraX.
When I tried to import the LZW file and the CMYK regular file into PhotoPaint12, I got "Bad IFD Chain" error messages. Whatever the hell that means.
I got the same result as John when opening (or importing) a Xara X1 saved LZW tiff in either Xara X1 or Photoshop 7. Interestingly a photoshop saved LZW tiff opened nicely in Xara X1.
Well the new 1.1b patch we've just released here:
http://www.xara.com/downloads/xarax/x1patch.aspfixes the CMYK problem we introduced with the 1.1a patch. We've also tested the various normal RGB TIF export / import and are confident this is now correct. i.e. we can import all TIFFs we export. And other apps can load them (which obviously is not an exhaustive test). For example Windows Explorer shows the correct thumbnails and Window Picture Viewer can load them fine, as does Photoshop (all types).
Thank you Charles and the XaraX1 Team!
The new results using X1-1B.
