Can you somehow stop an outside Web site from linking straight to your images? I pulled some things last month because of bandwidth thieves - and I was hoping to be able to upload it again.

Switching out the affected images to something totally discusting and horrible usually does the trick for a while (when they are discovered.)

    Anyone?

Try a search for something like:

    http://www.google.com/search?sourcei...ss+direct+link

Last time I tried it I somehow managed to ban my own site too (!) but, yes, it can be done and you *can* send alternative images to the culprits. http://www.talkgraphics.com/images/smilies/eek.gif

Ha ha, that was my thought too Peter... setting up a rotation of some funny images... be way fun if you knew a little history on the thieves... whoo boy, it would almost be a joy to watch...

Peter... the link provided me with the necessary information... *sigh* I though the 'htaccess' file was just some sort of ornamental files that I inherited with my Web space... http://www.talkgraphics.com/images/smilies/smile.gif Thank you! http://www.talkgraphics.com/images/smilies/smile.gif

I had a wallpaper section (as fly paper) - where one of those big thieves hooked up - I just did the basic thing... I changed the jpg file for something low bandwidth, and truuuly disgusting.

It took a while before they noticed that the file had changed... but THAT part was ALL worth it.

When I get it ALL up again - and it happens again - I'll show you... (+18 crowd only)... http://www.talkgraphics.com/images/smilies/biggrin.gif
