I am quite a newby in 3D design, and I have been looking around for a good 3D program to practice with. I found out that Strata 3D is free, and it seems pretty decent. It crashes quite often though (but all 3D-programs seem to crash on machine - a co-incident?).

The Strata 3D manual costs US$ 19,95 at the moment, but unfortunately I live in Finland and the "International shipping" cost US$ 58,00(!), so I don't find that a good offer There is a distributor in Finland but to get a manual from them, it will cost about the same. Do anyone of you know where I can find any good tutorials for Strata? And I mean for beginners. Except for the online manual at the Strata site, the tutorials were quite "messy" and quite advanced.

Do you have any comments on Strata 3D (the free version), and/or do you have any suggestions for any other free/inexpensive 3D-programs.

Here's one of my first results with Strata, inspired by an earlier post in this forum.

You can download the manual in html format at strata's web site. It is the same manual you get when you buy it.

Also there are links at their web site for tutorials. You can also find some at http:\\www.rendersoity.com click on the tutorial link near the top of the page.
