is what you need. Make the bitmap partly transparent. Use linear, set to repeating, and adjust the repeat so that it goes from very transparent to solid to transparent in three bands. Then put a solid block behind in a dark sepia.

Welcome to the Xara X Conference. Where in Southern California are you from? Used to live there myself.

The answer to your question was posted this morning in the XaraXone Tip of the Week If this is not the answer, let us know and we'll advise further.

I took your bitmap of the lathe and sliced it out. I then applied elliptical transparency with one axis pulled way out and adjusted the Profile for the transparency. I then overlaid it on the brown graduation.

If you need more detail, let me know and I will try to respond later after the meeting I'm late for.

I applied an elliptical transparency to the image, added a Profile 2, and made several duplicates.

I bet you won't get this many answers this quick with any other software product

I placed the photo over a sepia colored rectangle and applied a very short Linear Transparency as shown.

to you guys, I always know I can get the answer from one of the Xara forums! I have a few things I can play with now.

Gary, it's been awhile but you and I had discussed the locale thing before, I am about 30 minutes north of LA by Six Flags. Be glad you moved, otherwise I would be bugging you about classes!

I'm glad I moved but for a lot of other reasons ;-)

Yep, that's me, Gary. I think I was buggin you about something after one of your tutorials the last time we talked. By the way, they have all been great since too!

I noticed that at least one of you realized what the picture was of...in case you are interested, here is how the piece turned out. I am better with physical art creation than electronic, but I am getting there!
