I wondered if Gary P. would like to have an informal CD label contest for the new tutorial CD's.

Could be fun!

Dale

Here's an example: (I didn't have the X-Files font, so I used Taco Salad.)

Any suggestions on saving black and white gradients in Xara X without getting funky color banding?

Why, I’m afraid I can’t explain myself, sir, because I’m not myself, you know...

Sounds like fun to me, Dale.

Anyone else have any ideas?

OK with me if someone wants to create the label art. I will be the one printing them so try and keep the ink usage reasonable

Use the CD templates found in the Xaraxone:
http://www.xaraxone.com/html/templates.html

I have both of the templates so use whichever, I can cut and paste with the best of them.
I have most every font, but if you stick with the Xara supplied fonts there won't be any problems.
I will not be shipping in a jewel case so don't bother with that unless you want to make your own.

I have some final quality checks to make and then they are ready. I will be posting all the ordering info then. Payment will be with a PayPal account.

Other than that have at it.

Grant, I didn't see your post before I drew this...The dimensions are OK though.
The transparencies of different objects look better in xar file than gif file. Not sure what I'm doing wrong...Still learning

I thought the cd should use the different XaraXone logos Gary has used over the years. Knowing he has the xara files, I just did a rough mockup...and tried to keep it to just a few colors.

Grant, if you are printing them yourself a colored background might use up alot of ink.

I like that design allot Dan!!!

One thing.........How about taking the fading year numbers and actaully going from 1996 to 2002, that would be 7. I'm thinking you used the blend tool to achieve this effect??? Of course that may look a bit strange trying to do that with this sort of idea, but why not just consider the idea below.

I love the idea of the old and new logos incorporated into the design, NICE
