Great use of the Xara3D lighting effect Peter. You could spend hours trying to determine the shape. Have you used a rolled bevel?

Thought I'd give it a try. I tried it white on white but it doesn't work. I exported this one in a window smaller than the object.

Yes, it's a rolled bevel...
An amazing tool, with some surprising uses! It makes a mean tipper (double-ended beater) for a bodhran (Irish frame drum)...
Can't believe it took me so long to get round to trying and buying X3D. I'd probably been put off by thinking of it as just a text extrusion tool (and perhaps Xara's own emphasis on the word 'text' has something to answer for here), but it positively encourages creative experimentation!
A couple of further thoughts (inspired by some of Egg's stuff) while I'm on:
-
A similar 'black on black' GIF (no idea what your shape looks like either!) could be imported into XX to make a great background for a 'space' animation (meteor shower, Mir's last hour etc?).

Can't wait to try the 3D map idea on something with lots of contours (Glencoe?)!

Yes Peter it gets quite addictive.
I often use it to create a simple 3D shape I want to produce in XaraX, just to get the correct angles and perspective.
