Hi Briar,

If I understand your question, you downloaded the zipped versions of the tutorials and now you need to unzip them so you can view them.

You will need an unzip program like PKZip or WinZip.

http://www.winzip.com is where you can download a trial version of WinZip or
http://www.pkware.com to download a trial version of PKZip

If I misunderstood your question, please provide a little more information.

Open Xara, then minimize screen. Open your unzipped tutorial folder, and keep opening until you open the one called "Local Publish". Then right click on the first IE icon you see in the files. Select open, then use Alt+Tab keys on your keyboard to toggle back and forth between tutorial and Xara. Hope this helps.

Sheesh Mike if there are any files with that many subdirectories then I must have included the entire Fusion Folder. And if this is true I appologize for all the wasted disc space.

I generally try to save each tutorial in Fusion's Flat configuration which should place all the files in the same folder.

index.html is generally the home page file.

Gary,
I've downloaded a dozen or so of your tutorials, and that's what I've had to do to all.
Perhaps I'm missing something?

Just tried again, same results, nor do I see an index.

Hi Gary,

Mike is correct, the whole directory structure is in many, no all the zip files. I've downloaded all the tutorials. My phone service and ISP are not the most reliable, so I wanted to be able to access the tutorials at anytime.

Mike - if you are using WinZip or PKZip you can select not to use the directories and place the files in a directory of your choice. In WinZip there is a checkbox in the lower left side of the dialog box that appears when you extract files. Also, each tutorial I've downloaded has an index.html file.

Soquili,
Yes, I am aware of this feature in WinZip. I generally just unzip them to the default folder, and then copy just the Local Publish folder to my Xara tutorial folder, and then trash the rest.
I still can't seem to find an index though, and have to proceed per my instructions to Brian. It works, however, I've been meaning to question Gary ,on his method of madness!

Hi Mike,

I took another look through all the tutorials. The tutorials prior to February 1999 do not have an index.html file. The first .html file in the folder is the start of the tutorial. If they are sorted alphabetically. Tutorials from August 1999 through February 2001 are a flat folder zip. Then in March of 2001 they started having the full directory structure again.

This all doesn't really effect using the zipped tutorials, I was planning on compiling each year into a HTML help file for organization and compression. I may still do that, with a little more work involved.
