Nothing special in a way because X1 has the capability to create intricate shapes to extract the image. In another way, it is the best method that I have found for doing this. I am still looking at placing the drawings in PS for precise selections. Rich

    Hi rich,

the best way to get a mask that I have found is to draw the mask in Xara, Export to AI, then export to PS.

I was using Export to AI, open in E3, and do a clipboard transfer. I don't have Illustrator, and cannot try that method. What exactly do you mean by export to PS.

Awe... I see... From illustrator your can save as a PSD. So my route is .xar=>.ai=>PSD. Have not had any complaints from printshops except for my version of illustrator/PS is too new or too old.

AI can not see a sliced graphic. They just see the mask (no bitmap fill) So I just do not slice the photo in xara. I draw the mask, leave it in place on another layer then save the file as an .ai. use AI to slice it then save it as a PSD. Photoshop sees the nicely sliced object. I think PS shold be able to import the .ai that way. Never tried it yet so I do not know for sure one way or another.

    Hello

If you export as a PNG < Truecolour +Alpha then Photoshop will import it. You can derive a Photoshop mask from the PNG Ctrl Click on the layer in the pallette. Photoshop will not import a .ai, from Xara. It cannot import a .ai exported from Photoshop as clipping path either.
