    Hi there,
I like the idea of using GeoType TTfonts in WebStyle templates but I would like to have the ability to use my own symbols. What would the possibility (feasibility) be able to convert symbols I could create in Xara into TT Fonts.
Thanks in advance for your thoughts and input.

Naw.... Leave the font design to the font design programs...

Another way to look at it would be like a screwdriver and a chisel. You can turn screws with both and chisel with both, so why have both in your toolbox? Simple... each is better at the task it was designed for.

A Font program should be used for Fonts, and a graphic program should be used for graphics. If not you get one of those all in one stereos that played everything but nothing well...

Now where did I leave my 8-tracks? http://www.talkgraphics.com/images/smilies/biggrin.gif

Hmmm... That explains anything by Microsoft doesn't it? http://www.talkgraphics.com/images/smilies/wink.gif http://www.talkgraphics.com/images/smilies/biggrin.gif

On the other hand the font editing programs I've used have really awful path editing tools compared to Xara. This part of the task, the vector editing, should be done in a vector graphics package.

So I'd personally really like a tool that can take outlines from Xara, chop them up into separate glyphs, add kerning information and compile to OpenType. But I don't think it really needs to be built-in to X1.

Andrew - Thanks for your input. That's right, Xara does the greatest job with vector graphics. I can't be bothered to learn a font editing program for the amount of font creation I would want to do. It would be much nicer to have that tool available.
And your right, I don't think it needs to be built into Xara. (I guess it was more food for thought on the off chance that someone knew such a tool existed) <smile>

I love the accuracy of your analogy http://www.talkgraphics.com/images/smilies/biggrin.gif

You are most welcome Phillip. I thought it worked pretty good too. http://www.talkgraphics.com/images/smilies/wink.gif http://www.talkgraphics.com/images/smilies/biggrin.gif

    There is such a tool.

Save as CMX file and import into Coreldraw - this has a TTF export option.

Well... how about that? Thanks Christine. I'll check it out. Much appreciated.
