I would like to add the word WARHAWK into a P-40F outline so the words make the shape, how can it be done?

I think I have the solution.

First off is the plane shape just a line drawing?? If so then we are pretty much set to go, I think, but you try this.

Select the line shape and right click and "copy"

Then select the Mould tool on the lower left hand side of your XaraX workspace. Then select the text and then up in the task bar you will see two tiny clip boards, float your cursor over the one on the left hand side and it should say "Paste Envelope". Select that and if it works then the shape of the plane should reshape the text into that shape.

I hope that's right?? If not then I'm sure Gary or Ross or someone will be able to help ya out better.

Good luck and have fun! http://www.talkgraphics.com/images/smilies/smile.gif Oh, and welcome to the forums!! http://www.talkgraphics.com/images/smilies/biggrin.gif

Richard, I don't think you idea will work. A mould must have 4 straight sides which won't work....however I've never understood this tool!
I created this by just changing the individual characters to moulds and adjusting them. It's not great tho.

Only work if they have 4 'sides'. You would probable have to mould each letter.

Looks like Eric and I gave the same answer at the same time.

doesn't have to remain as text. It can become a graphic and editable as an object. I drew a couple of shapes, but you could have converted the text to an editable graphic as well. I moved the drawn shapes to the outline and manually fitted them. Rich

    Hey Brad,
I stumbled on to basically the same techniques as the others have already explained. The only thing I did different than Mike above was I did Combine Shapes->Intersect Shapes instead of Slice. I ended up with just the outines of the letters. I placed the cloned plane shape over the letters and filled the letters with a gradient fill.

Another version from me. This brought a question for me. Is it possible to give an object outline a gradient as well? I wanted to do a reverse of the black to white that I have on the inside so that the outlines would be visible at both ends.
