It's terific art and I would love the skill to do realistic objects like this http://www.talkgraphics.com/images/smilies/cool.gif.

    Christopher.
The ear pieces are made of a soft kind of rubber, so the highlights shouldn't be stronger imo http://www.talkgraphics.com/images/smilies/smile.gif
But now that I take a look at those ear pieces, I suddenly realise that I copied the left one to the right and their highlights are the same http://www.talkgraphics.com/images/smilies/eek.gif Sloppy work. Gonna have to change that http://www.talkgraphics.com/images/smilies/biggrin.gif
I'm gonna make the spring shiny too. But I'm not all that happy with the spring and its support (it looks very n00bish). I think I'll make 2 versions: 1 with and 1 without a spring (with a round bottom instead of the current V-shaped one). The more the merrier http://www.talkgraphics.com/images/smilies/wink.gif
BTW thanks for the comments http://www.talkgraphics.com/images/smilies/smile.gif I'm sure if you keep practicing, you'll develop your skills too. Not all my drawings are like this you know; I'm just starting to get there http://www.talkgraphics.com/images/smilies/biggrin.gif

John, right you are. Thanks for that one. I think a clipview is in order here http://www.talkgraphics.com/images/smilies/smile.gif

Hey Alien thanks for your comments http://www.talkgraphics.com/images/smilies/wink.gif. Actually when I said earpieces I meant the metal rods which is why I said 'shiny' but I only realised too late and was too lazy to change it http://www.talkgraphics.com/images/smilies/wink.gif. Well that's my excuse.

    Christopher.

Christopher, well that explains a lot http://www.talkgraphics.com/images/smilies/wink.gif

Well, I've polished it up a bit and applied some changes:

The right metal rod looks a bit weird though. It's either just me or the lighting on that piece is still not right :S

    Hello Alien,

You're right about the metal rods. Actually I think you almost had them correct with your very first picture...sorry http://www.talkgraphics.com/images/smilies/eek.gif. I reckon you might need one of these things by the time you've finished http://www.talkgraphics.com/images/smilies/biggrin.gif. The rest of the picture is perfect - don't touch it http://www.talkgraphics.com/images/smilies/wink.gif.

    Christopher.

Hmm...the right rod looked very weird at first, but now it looks better o_O I guess I'm looking at it in a different way http://www.talkgraphics.com/images/smilies/confused.gif

Christopher, if the highlighting were correct with the first rods I would change it back. But now, it wouldn't match with the rest and I'd have to redo the highlights of the entire bottom part http://www.talkgraphics.com/images/smilies/biggrin.gif http://www.talkgraphics.com/images/smilies/eek.gif

    Hey Alien,

the rods are fine. The rubber hose that connects to the rods has the hightlight for the right hand side on the right, when the light is on the left... http://www.talkgraphics.com/images/smilies/rolleyes.gif http://www.talkgraphics.com/images/smilies/wink.gif

Yeah, if you look at the chest piece (the bottom cold part), you also see a (weaker) highlight coming from the right. It doesn't light up every bit of the drawing, only the shiniest surfaces, i.e. the rubber hose http://www.talkgraphics.com/images/smilies/wink.gif
The bottom part of that hose also has a highlight on its right surface http://www.talkgraphics.com/images/smilies/smile.gif
Maybe I should make those 2 highlights dimmer or so
