    Then I have tried to convert it to a 3D object on base of simple shapes first. The first step is a cube subdivided one time and refined ; afterwards I have processed to multiple extrusions.

    You the man! Good job converting the sketch into 3d, now you just need to get someone to do a 3d Print so you can have this baby sitting on your desk!

    This one is from scratch (a "thin film" shader was applied which colorizes differently following the reflection angle).
