I was trying to follow Big Franks tut on chrome with a bitmap overlay.

I did the text and border etc. http://dzl2000.homestead.com/files/here.gif
I keep having a problem with the "add shapes".
When I do it I get the text and box converting completely to a solid black box. Any ideas on what I'm doing wrong? (I have already converted text to "editable shapes" )

When you add selected shapes (CTRL+1) they become one shape, with one fill. If you add lines it's different.

    Diezel,

My guess is that your text is actually sitting on top of your shape...even if you have no fill its a rectangle or some such shape. When you add the two shapes the text just becomes part of the shape. In Frank's tutorial, his shape surrounds the text.

Draw a rectangle, no fill. draw a second smaller rectangle, no fill. Place the small rectangle inside the first one. Select both shapes and join them (arrange menu). Now add a fill and you'll see a shape that just consists of the space between the two rectangles. Now put your text inside and try the add shapes.

Hope that's clear and solves your problem.

In my own ignorance, I was making the outer shape with the line width.
    Thank you very much!!!!
