Have to come back on my eagle.cool approach as it doesn't show the xar thumbs but one has to create the (per file)thumbs themselves, sorry for any confusion.

Just another free for personal use addition to this topic is to use xnviewmp to view any image file (ghostscript needs to be installed also for psd, etc.)

Give xara designer pro+ have access in the firewall settings.

You could use xnviewmp for this conversion.
Also if you don't want blurry .ico files, export as gif from Xara first.
I always used the sizes, for website design,16x16,24x24,32x32,........

The most annoying change is the mouse pointer.
It looks like a node editing pointer as it is in some other programs and it is bit to big when using on a normal screen.
Xara missed the opportunity...
