Re: Still would love to see....

If it's just 3d text, how about Elefont?
    http://www.armanisoft.ch/webdesign/elefont/Elefont.html
It exports dxf, but most most 3d programs should be able to import dxfs without any problems.
    But...

    Re: Vehicle motion

    Here' mine. Done with PhotoImpact.
Clone brush, eraser, smudge tool, airbrush.
No motion blur, but liberal misuse of the smudge tool does a good job of simulating the motion blur filter. Specially...

    Re: Time to change...

    Great work, Dan. :)
You can create great materials in Blender, but it takes a lot of time and effort. Easier if you just download material libraries, then append them and tweak them if necessary....

Re: Position of objects in 1 group?

Having groups that cuts through layers without disturbing them might be pretty useful, actually. You could group things like wheels of a car, for example, where two are behind and two are in front of...

    Re: Bitmap Versus Vector Challenge

It was. Well.... partly, at least. Color picking was being done automatically and I was basically tracing the pic. So I guess you could call it computer aided painting... :D .
  10. Re: What is the absolute relevance of bitmap editors?

I'm not sure if I'm understanding this correctly, but the picture forming in my mind is exactly the opposite... doing away with vectors and creating an infinite resolution bitmap instead!

    Re: Bitmap Versus Vector Challenge

Here's my try using the free version of ArtRage.
Image used in the tracing paper with the automatic color picking option turned on, then the blank canvas was drawn over using the oil brush. Luckily,...

    Re: creating flowers

    :D
    You have sharp eyes.
The two on the top were created a bit differently :) . It was more of a hit or miss experimental process from me than the one on my mini-tutorial, and I thought...
  13. Re: What is the absolute relevance of bitmap editors?

    Speed and simplicity perhaps?
You could emulate most bitmap editing methods with vectors, but it's a more involved process than when done with a bitmap editor, at least for me. And if you're up...

    Re: creating flowers

Here's a quickie way from me.
The method is pretty much like Aunt Betsy's, but I always preferred the Ctrl R way of repeating the operations when duplicating with the right mouse click. Also works...

Re: 1st Painting in ArtRage 2

Thumbs up, Sally and Mary. Excellent artworks.
You two are going to wear down the tips of your pens very fast if you keep this up. And end up with a badly worn down tablet surface, too. :D...

    Re: stain effect?

I agree with Scott, too. Play with the transparency value of a solid color filled layer (or even texture filled layers, if you're feeling adventurous) over the pic, and also with the blend modes, and...

Re: Balance... model and render it

Still another toy that involves balance. The goal is to knock the pieces out one by one with the mallet, starting from the bottom, without toppling the whole thing over. Blender and Wings, as always....

    Re: Wild Baby Bunnies

    :D
I'm not getting the "wild" part, though. They look pretty tame and harmless.
I'm guessing wild describes their behavior when they grow up and enter puberty. :D

    Re: Robot Challenge

Haha, Bob's cardboard box robot reminded me of a chapter from a book I've read long ago when I was a kid. "Henry and the Paper Route"? I think. Henry made a cardboard robot suit to keep his friend...

    Re: Wings 3D question

Good observation. All the time I've been using Wings, I've never touched the rotate/free command. And yes, it does seem to behave differently from other 3d programs I've used.
    One thing I observed...
