Just tried copying the .png image from my new PC to the older PC & it displays perfectly without background there.

Problem: I haven't been doing graphics for a few years and are having trouble getting Xara...

Another way that may suit what you are trying to achieve is to simply draw a rectangle for the background in the colors you wish, then place your image/photo on front of the rectangle (centred)....

Just apply the glow first, then left click and drag a colour from the colour bar to the glow:D
