Haven't posted in a while so I thought I'd share....Here is a simple logo / illustration I did for an internal application I'm working on.
All told, not counting the loss of an hours work to a program shutdown, probably 3 hours. Should of been quicker, but it will do.

If I'm following what you want... bring in your fabirc swatch and the stitch pattern. Place the stitch pattern on top, select the transparency tool and on the 'type' dropdown (it will say 'mix' ) ...
Thanks guys. I don't get many chances to use Xara for work these days (mostly doing development work) and my typical personal Xara work a sort of 'mixed media'. So for being just a phone, it was a...
Well, I don't do a lot of technical illustrations so I thought I'd share this one. It's late and I'm done for tonight so chances are I've forgotten a thing or two, but here is an illustration I've...

Thanks folks. I'll see what I can do about posting more. I don't manage to get a lot of work done each year and what I do get done isn't all done in Xara. I'm glad this one was well met.

I'm of two mindsets on this. On the one hand a little modernization to the interface I think is warranted. It would also be nice to have an easier way to modify the workspace and save multiple...
Thanks fellas....
Well, it's been a while since I posted anything and I happened to get a chance to play around a little bit this weekend so I thought I'd share. He's not much, really just a chance to play around with...
I just played around with this feature some and I can certainly see the use of it. covoxer's concerns are correct however in that as it is a 'live effect' and not an actual defined line the scaling...
MS Expression Design has it (though the way they go about it, and all their fill functions, is awkward). I've always wanted it in Xara as it always seemed like a natural extension of existing...
A good resource for font determination is here...

Just upload a file (the one you have above is too large) and it will determine the probable font used. From...
True, the back shape doesn't have to be feathered and your attempt is a close approximation to what I did. However, as I recall now (this image is some 6 years old I think) feathering and glow are...
Salaam, I'm guessing that you are probably misreading what this piece is saying if you are offended. Even if you are not, ignoring my posts as opposed to leaving the forum would serve your interests...
David, the problem with that approach and the one I took is that it gives a soft edge shape where as I wanted a hard edge to the shape but a soft edge on the shadow. There is also a different falloff...
Good point sledger. I tend to stay away from clipviews when possible (if for no other reason than I always do them wrong the first time I try them) but there are certain behaviors that just don't...
Neat stuff Risto. I like the added depth of your piece though I have to say I like some of the mondrian elements of the original (though that would be out of step with your typical style). I'd still...
Thanks for the kind comments. I'm not completely satisfied with it but I was trying a number of new things on this one. Some worked, some didn't.
As a side note, I'm both a Christian and I work...
Thanks Keith.
Yeah John, new nick. I can't very well stay one step ahead of the FBI manhunt if I keep using my real name now can I? :p

Just thought I'd pop a quick note on here to let the few that may still remember me that I (Joe Skeesick) am now posting under this new name. I have also tried to go back and fix all my image links...
Continued great work gray. I'm not sure if you've ever said or not... but do you do these for your own enjoyment or are you doing these for publication? I have a couple of books with similar types of...
