Andrestyle, the same happened to me and to a couple of other people with 5.

Uninstalling and reinstalling fixed it for me. :)

A layer or page must be selected for the buttons to work.

I have just done a complete uninstall (using Revo) and reinstalled. Problem solved. Also mask button in position.

Obviously not an isolated incident though as there is a third thread started this...

Yes, same happened to me. The mask button was also missing.

Did you install over the top of the download version? It may be that is the reason for both anomalies. My computer has Windows XP SP2. ...

I have just installed X5 on the laptop (Vista) and the buttons work on that.

They don't work on my desktop (XP SP2) computer. Another anomaly caused by installing over the top...

Odd to have buttons that don't do anything, but it isn't a problem.

I like the Object Gallery - I just discovered it shows thumbnails when you hover over the layer. :D

I noticed something else today which might not be right! :confused:

In X4, clicking on 'New' or 'Copy' in the Layer Gallery brought up a box where you type in the layer name.

Derek - it obviously is connected - you are right, it wasn't there. Nor would it open by checking the box in the Control Bars menu - just got a blank square.

I use the spiro thingy in Inkscape, which is great, to draw 1pt outlines, then copy and paste into Xtreme. They paste as lines so...

I use windows. Copy from Inkscape, paste into Xara as Enhanced Metafile seems to work well enough.

Neat and simple and free - Snippy - 84kb, no install necessary, just click and drag and paste direct into Xara. :)
