Stuart:
Are you the guy whose work used to be on Xara's gallery? Those were top top illustrations, mate! Are they still there? Or have they been dropped since they were done in CorelXara 2?
...
I ordered XaraX end of August, received the CD mid September. I live about 50 miles from Xara Ltd. Therefore:
1. They do not ship the CD immediately. It has to be custom labelled with your name...
I work for a browser company (in the embedded systems market place), and I use IE on the desktop: it's reliable (-enough), it supports the standards far better than any of the others, it's powerful,...
Juergen,
I like the overall effect of this. I really do. Jealous as mine are always quite staid by comparison (IsoCalc.com). However, a couple of things:
1. Lose that background, it's not...
Hmmm, my money's with Sean on this one: Access does not support transparency. The internal format is WMF or BMP, and the standard BMP format is non-transparent, i.e. does not support transparency...
It occurred to me about the object-on-object antialiasing after I posted last night (kind of last thought before hitting REM ... hmmm, maybe that didn't come out right...
Luciano,
Thanks for the link. I had already tried this tool, and it works up to a point: it doesn't write the mask (transparency) properly on the Windows command-line version, which is an issue...
Hey, London Tone,
Whereabouts? Went to uni in Uxbridge meself, lived in Stamford Hill for a while, hate the noise, constant go, and distance to the country.
Anyway, thanks for your comments on...
Gary,
Hmmm ... one at a time:
1. CorelDRAW: all versions pre 10 are completely rubbish. And I understand your concerns with Draw 10 - something that Corel's engineers don't seem to understand...
Hmmm, the first one appears alright for me - note, though, that the _very_ first image is broken (mis-typed URL), and is repeated in the second. Then about the sixth posting has an image.
But,...
Forgot to upload the _other_ rack. Here it is.

Roman,
We play to a bastardized version of the rules at:
http://www.arseweb.com/rupe/pool/uk_rules.html
However, in the UK, in pubs, since you have to pay per play, there are various 'house...
Wolfgang,
I would love to do a Xara version - I investigated the possibility back in 1999, but (then) CorelXara didn't expose a formal automation interface. And Xara X still doesn't.
Damn.
...
John,
Thanks for you comments. I kid you not when I say that the pool table at work (how lucky we are ... when we can get the owner of the company off it) has a blue baize cloth on a slate bed....
I have had this page live for around 15 months now. It shows the antialiasing capabilities of quite a few different applications, the particular emphasis being for web graphics.
Hmmm, I wonder...

The idea was that it was simple to execute, but effective. If you look closely at the shadows and reflections, they are obviously "not right". However, if you don't look at the details, but instead...
Should've been:

This is half of a two-part illustration I did for work: we have a pool table in the office /infopop/emoticons/icon_wink.gif The other half is a British rack.

Oh, bugger, this flippin' form removed the <head> tag that I'd constructed for you. It should have been:
<BODY onLoad="preloadImages( )">
Hmmm, that should be better.
Nick.
Alan,
It is my understanding - and I work for a browser company, so I may get the guys to confirm this tomorrow - that the preloading JavaScript is not reliable. There are two methods of getting a...
The balance of #4 is the one to go for.
Beware of fixing teh minimum width of your pages by using a wide image - bad practise.
