So the shadow effect is the problem, but transparency would still export OK? The transparency effect is not exported as a bitmap?

Sorry, I'm not familiar with the old fashioned way (vector object shadow). Can you explain what you mean? You are correct that it doesn't do it when the shadow is removed.
