GOT IT! It was them bloody stars, for something so small they were each made up of about 100 vector elements each. I created bitmap copies, deleted the vector stars, ungrouped everything and removed...

is that whilst keeping the aspect ratio correct at 300dpi? it should be ok i guess

they look fine, are they exported at 300dpi, because the worst thing is pixelation when zoomed to full size, thanks!
