Hi Mark,
I did have the same problem.
Keith is probably right about the graphics card, but I solved it by changing the shortcut's compatibility to Windows XP SP2.

Rubem,
Have you tried typing Crtl-deadletterkey + character?
For the last character of my first name I have to type: Ctrl-' e.
This works perfect with Xara X's default setting "UseDeadKeys=1".

Ivan,
Great discovery /infopop/emoticons/icon_smile.gif
But you have to admit that your "repeating shapes for vector fills" aren't quiet the same as vector fills. I mean vector fills working...
Stupid of me: I forgot to mention CLipView as a great addition consistent with the nature of Xara. /infopop/emoticons/icon_redface.gif
With vector filling I mean a kind of tiled ClipViews.
Indeed the Xara team should not be daunted by the short-term criticism. Overall Xara X is a quality product that proves their saying "less is more".
That is why the great long-term criticism by...
But shadows in front of an object don't always have to be unnatural. Example: people looking at a sunset.
Following your line of thinking we wouldn't need a shadow tool at all.
But in my opinion...
Hein,
Still I think it is the way Windows is installed.
For instance, can you realy change the registry?
Hein,
Perhaps a stand alone PC with more users having to logon with a logon ID and a pasword?

Mark,

Ahh, that is your motivation.
Bear in mind that XaraX isn't a CAD-program.
Its first use is for artistic drawings.
Ed and I understood you well, but we could not see the necessity for an...
That is what I meant, Ed /infopop/emoticons/icon_smile.gif
Let me get it clear
I prefer both possibilities, but if that is impossible I would opt out the new possibility.
In other words I prefer to keep the transparency from Xara 2.

Never cross out an existing possibility.

Xara is more artistic and CorelDraw has more prefabricated stuff aboard.
Xara once advertised with: Less is more.
Believe me with Xara this is true /infopop/emoticons/icon_smile.gif
How can a ratio ever be in pixels?
Quote from Mark Goodall in "Cannot convert "brush stroked" lines to shapes!!!":
This is a small bug on a few of the stroke shapes, this has been fixed and the fix will be in the next download.

Quote from IVCA:
I can't see the pick tool as being the culprit, as it will only give you a bounding box.
That is not allways true IVCA.
