I've written previously at length on the subject of tablet size, and the fact that bigger is not always better. When drawing on paper, by default you're limited by the paper size. With a tablet,...
+1, most definitely.

I think what happens is that once you use a mould on text, it has to convert it to an editable shape, and thus is no longer text. Therefore, Xara has no font information to include.
As a...
I can confirm I am having the issue as well. The picture looks normal when opened in Windows Picture Viewer, but when imported to Xara Designer Pro X, the houses are blue and the sky is copper.

I think this has been posted in Dear Xara before. As a workaround, I always add a layer with a transparent rectangle the same size as the page, then when I export, it will always be the right size.

Here's what you can do when you want to resize something and keep it set to whole pixels:
1. Set the ruler to pixels.
2. Turn on Snap to Grid
3. Resize the object/bitmap/whatever using the...

The epub format is basically a collection of html and image files zipped up. Definitely something to ask for in Dear Xara (though I think version 9 is probably on its way very soon, so if it wasn't...
There is an animated PNG format, but it's non-standard, and Xara doesn't have an export filter for it, so it's not entirely helpful. Something to post in Dear Xara, maybe. GIF may be going to way of...
Fantastic as always.

Definitely +1 for this. Then I wouldn't have to use Visio at all.

This is probably the one aspect of the Shapebuilder/Eraser tool that I find most useful. I can choose the curser size, and then just zoom in and out for the level of detail I need. Makes coloring...
Thank you very much, Su, for helping to solve what's been a mystery for me for quite some time. I knew there had to be a setting or option that was governing placement of objects with line width set...
Depends on what you selected during the export. Whenever I'm exporting something and I get a size I didn't expect, it's usually because the Area To Save section (under Bitmap Size) is set to Page...
At first I was going to argue that each option fulfills a very different function, and that I use them for different things. But the more I thought about it, the more I realized that I couldn't think...

You may have to zoom in a bit.

What version of the software are you using? You should be able to Ctrl-click on the object itself on the page, then give it whatever attributes you want.

If it's just an issue of having an image that does not use any color, then exporting as normal should be fine. If it's an issue of needing a JPG with a grayscale color space instead of 24bit color,...
It's under the second tab (Bitmap Size) in the Export dialog box. It defaults to 96DPI (screen res).
Thing is, PNG was designed to be a screen format, so DPI is kind of superfluous. Most...
This has to do with the fact that in the world of graphic design and desktop publishing, Bold and Italic fonts are actually separate files from the Regular fonts.
Xara, much like InDesign or...
If you could post the original .xar file we could certainly point out the culprit.
Generally, with my work I do the outlines first, then I do the fills as separate shapes (usually on a completely...
Copying & pasting text from Word may occasionally have odd effects, as Word includes lots of funky metadata in there. I've found that the best thing to do is paste plain text into Xara, and do your...
