Re: draw a n open half circle?
This technique works for me but not exactly as shown in everyone's nicely made examples.
After I Convert circle to Editable Shapes, Select points using the Shape Editor Tool, Right-click and "break at points" it remains one piece.
I then need to select "Join Shapes" from the "Arrange" menu then immediately select "Break Shapes" from the same "Arrange" menu for it to work. I then get two pieces. Not a big deal but..... What am I missing?
My version is Xara Xtream 4.0.1.5601 CD I believe I have the lastest patch
Re: draw a n open half circle?
Once you have selected break at points, you will have to click away from the circle to deselect it, then reselect it again at the area you broke with the selector tool, and the arc can then be moved/deleted.

Bob.
Re: draw a n open half circle?
Hi Bob,
You have the latest version and patch.
It is strange you need to do those extra steps.
Re: draw a n open half circle?
@ iamtheblues
That did the trick,I guess it is required the same number of clicks (deselecting and reselecting) but no menu interaction.) Thanks Bob!
@ Soquili
Thanks for verifying the latest version Bill.
Re: draw a n open half circle?
Soquili,
Can the type on your half circle be centered on the curve? The flat of letter e centered on the half circle. This was done in Freehand before Adobe consumed it, with type layout centered between two wide circles, doesn't looks like it's climbing up the curve, the curve has no fill, did I say all this right?
Thanks.

Re: draw a n open half circle?
Hi Posterart,
The Baseline Shift on the infobar can be used to align the text center line with the line. You can Ctrl+Select the line and give it no colour to hide it. See first attachment.
I'm not sure if I understand the second part of your question but see the second attachment. The Baseline Shift can be used to move the text away from the curve it is attached to.
Re: draw an open half circle?
Boy!
Whenever I cut any shape in two, the cut parts always closed up. I found this to be very frustrating. Not knowing how to do it was eXtremely frustrating. (a bit of a joke there!)
I am fairly new to Xtreme so I didn't beat myself up too much. I just accepted the fact that it's obviously possible. Then I had forgotten about it, to be honest.
Then to my surprise, I find this thread and you guys have given such fantastic instruction and even videos.
So simple and so brilliant!
Thanks everyone.
Rik.
