Baseline .jpg?
I have a request to supply a .jpg in baseline jpg format. As I understand it, jpg can be either baseline or progressive compression. In PSP7 If I save a jpg without the box checked for progressive, is it the same as saving in another program (Photoshop) as baseline? I have Photoshop CS5 on another computer, and it has an option to save as Baseline ("Standard"), Baseline Optimized, and Progressive.

I think the answer is yes. Progressive is a format for the web in which a JPEG loads first blurry then progressively gets sharper. Speed was the consideration here.
If the image is for printing, I would save your JPEG with minimal compression for best results. 90%-95%.

Re: Baseline .jpg?
Gary,
That was my understanding of the format. Unfortunately my client doesn't tell me what the file is to be used for, just what they need.
