Glad to see the penny has dropped in some quarters...
Well you want to know something about a company.
The internet should tell you some if they are on it, and
what company isn`t, in some way, even my local bakery is.
You want to know what the company is about, I also
checked the website in one of the competitions in here.
You need to get a feel.
I made a logo, and I am not a professional, it was for inspiration
for the other side, the thing is, I still have the copyright on it ofcourse.
Lets not forget that. ;)
No deal was made no copyright was wavered.
Here's my attempt
dduran GREAT design! Really.. I love it.
Hi to all,
Sorry I have been busy building a FREE website for a friend (sonsofgalloway.org.uk). If you're trying to get into different areas of business it is sometimes useful to offer freebie sites, to hopefully open up new avenues for business.
I really did not mean to cause offence or undermine anyone's commercial approach to logo design. I'll be certain not to ask for such inspiration again and to be more cautious in my approach. As has been pointed out I was after inspiration and didn't request anyone to actually design the logo for me; perhaps I should have emphasised this. I have indeed designed a few on paper myself and have now to try and transfer these to xara xtreme, an effort in itself as I haven't used it much but want to be using it in place of my PhotoShop and PaintShopPro.
Again I must emphasise I did not mean to be seen as taking advantage of the individuals who have presented some very impressive designs. If I was going to use them directly I would have approached the individuals and offered a fee for their efforts so that copyright would not be infringed and everything would be above board.
Many thanks for the efforts, and the inspiration that was offered.
Andy
Andy, I think most of the comments were really more about your friend who's running a business, getting his professional logo done as a freebie. Nobody objects to you asking for inspiration and I would encourage you not to take offence at the comments. I hope you will ask for inspiration again here.
The sonsofgalloway site looks like a worthy cause and well worth helping as a freebie. It's looking good, though parts don't work for me..
Hope to see you here again - fully inspired, or not!
Paul
Feel free to PM me with any comments on sonsofgalloway or otherwise...
I was just taken aback by some of the comments when all I had thought I would receive would be other people's advise on how they would go about designing the logo. I suppose I could set forth a "commercial" challenge for a logo design and either pay the designer or donate to a charity of their choice. I am sure I could get a nominal fee from my friend but that might be for another thread....
