RAW development
Hands up those who have used Xtreme to work a RAW image from a dSLR camera?
What is RAW?
RAW is an unprocessed capture straight from the camera's CMOS sensor to the memory card. No in-camera processing has thrown away data before saving it to JPG, RAW is everything the sensor captured.
The 'developing' is commonly done by the photographer in a digital-darkroom such as Lightroom, ACR or Aperture on a MAC. Rather like film from a camera was developed in a dark room, so too are RAW files - but in a virtual darkroom.
Anyway, this isn't a discussion about RAW v JPG from cameras, this is just an opportunity for some experimentation to learn more about what can be done with Xtreme's photo's tools to create a final image from a 6mp RAW capture.
So, here is a typical RAW file (complete with spots from sensor dust) taken with my 6 year old PENTAX *istDS.
Please download and give it a try using Xara Xtreme to develop a final image and then post your results here with your thoughts on how well you think Xtreme is suited this task.

You can *develop* in anyway you choose.

Here is the photo with a lomo effect. This was very easy to do in Xtreme and fast too!

Re: RAW development
A fun exercise in "developing" a RAW image. :D
Maybe a little more rain in the distance in this one.

Re: RAW development
I don't think that Xtreme is suitable for RAW development, because as far as I know, Xara immediately clips the imported RAW to 8 bits per channel and thus, all information that makes RAW "special" (over TIFF or nearly uncompressed JPEG) is lost before any processing can be done.
But some Xara coder may correct me...
