Transparent cigarette smoke
Hi
I'm looking for cigarette smoke (whisps of smoke, long streams of cigarette smoke, etc.) with transparent backgrounds for XaraXtreme.
I want the smoke to be layered over some photos, etc.
I have browsed thorugh some of the cd's graphics and don't see any there - but it was a quick bowse so I could have missed something.
ANYWAY -- do any of you know of any transparent (png, or xar, ai, etc) resources for SMOKE?
Thanks

Re: Transparent cigarette smoke
You should be able to produce reasonable smoke using the freehand pen tool, feathering, cloning and transparencies.
See attached..
Re: Transparent cigarette smoke
Great effect Steve!
There is also a free brush, Steve Newport's Smoke Brush which can create a pretty realistic smoke. It's down on the page a bit.

Thanks Gary and Steve.
I went to the link, Gary and downloaded the zip file.
I opened it and saw the xar file. Is there an actual brush that is in there that I can add to the line gallery? If so how do I add it to the line gallery so I can use it as a "smoke brush" to draw my wiffs of smoke?

Re: Transparent cigarette smoke
Nice effect indeed Steve L - very effective
Rowby open up the xar file that contains the smoke brush together with the xar file that you are working on.
In your working file select the freehand tool [f3] and you should then be able to choose the smoke brush from the brush options.
Once you have used this, you can close the smoke brush file, and the brush will then remain in your working document.
Re: Transparent cigarette smoke
Got it! Lots of other great brushes on that link. Now I can take advantage of all these great new "brushes"
Thanks!

Re: Transparent cigarette smoke
When you open the file, the brush is automatically placed in the Line Gallery New Brush Strokes folder from where you can apply it to any path.
If you right click on on any color on the screen palette with a smoke line selected, the color with change to the color you clicked (see attached).
These brushes are gone when you close Xara except in the XAR file. If you want to have certain brushes available all the time, save them in:
C:\Program Files\Xara\Xara Xtreme (or Pro)\Templates\Brushes
The name of the brush will appear in its own folder in the Line Gallery.
