Re: Cd in drive to run Xara
Hi Scandog,
During installation there is a prompt to copy the CD to your hard drive so the fills, clipart, etc are available without the CD. It appears you may have overlooked that prompt.
Because uninstall and reinstall isn't very time consuming, I would recommend going that route.
Re: Cd in drive to run Xara
I did as you suggested, and still have the same problem. I had checked all the boxes to copy files from the cd. When I uninstalled it it said it was taking up 500meg or so. That would confirm to me that it had copyed the files to the drive.
Any suggestions.
Re: Cd in drive to run Xara
Are you installing it to the default location, or to another drive or folder? I seem to recall someone else had this problem or one similar.
Re: Cd in drive to run Xara
I am installing it to my G:\Program Files\Xara\Xara Xtreme
Re: Cd in drive to run Xara
After installing, check the registry to make sure it is pointing to that folder.
The registry keys to check are:
HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Xara\XaraXtreme\Gallery \ClipartGallery
HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Xara\XaraXtreme\Gallery \FillsGallery
HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Xara\XaraXtreme\Gallery \FontsGallery
It could be one or more of them may have the default C:\Program Files\Xara\Xara Xtreme as the path. If it cannot find the galleries in the location pointed to in the registry I believe it defaults to asking for the CD.
I've done a few searches, but I'm not finding the post I think I remember seeing at some time in the past.

Are you saying to even start the program you are being prompted for the CD? What does it say?
