That's lovely! Hard to believe a vector illustration program like Xara can produce something so painterly!
I don't think I welcomed you to the forums before. I'm sure I can speak for everyone - It is great to have your participation. I hope you share your Xara experiences with us.
Regards, Ross

Hello Katsu
Your image is very beautiful and delicate. It looks like you used pastel chalk to draw your flowers.

Thanks Ross, Gary. Both of your comments encourage me to post another trial.
Your images are lovely! I am amazed at the creative ways people use this program.

Hello Katsu,
I like your drawings very much. You have a beautiful use of brushes.
And a big Hello to Japan! Your country has not so much members on this forum.
In another domain I experienced with the excellent free plugins created for Lightwave 3D by generous japanese people. I have also good friends (botanists because... take a look at my profile) in Chiba and Shizuoka University!
Kind regards,
ivan
Thanks Ivan.
Photoshop is the most poplura here and many books are available so many use it. Another reason is many Japanese do not understand English well. I hope I will translate how to use XaraX in Japanese sometime.
For those who interested in the brush here is my way of creating the brush. Hope it will be any help.
Katsu
... what a great debut! A very nice technique on your images, a brush for all of us and a tutorial to go! Wow! Welcome!
I can't wait to see what else you can come up with!
Super!
Risto
And now Kadsu, try several very tiny changes to your initial lines before converting them to a brush; for example apply stroke shapes to them (and convert them to shapes afterwards because brushes displays these internal lines stroke shapes only after the brush itself has been converted to shapes).
You are on the right way to show us very interesting things!
Regards,
ivan
Risto, thanks. I like your Viking.
ivan, thanks your suggestion.
Here is another brushflower.
that last one is absolutely great!!
Katsu,
Thanks for the beautiful images, especially the delicate flower. I like it very much. Thanks for the brush tutorial too. All the tips help.
Neil

on the forum. Very nice.
Attached picture is what I originally wanted to make in XX. Tried many kinds of brush and had this finish. However the brush seems require too much burden for my PC and the speed get very slow.
My PC is Pentium III 400M 256 RAM.
I do not see how the slowdown could be due to excessive demand on your computer, if you have Pentium III. I suspect it's just XaraX itself that can only cope with so much. I remember reading that it is best to keep your work in a separate drive from the drive your graphics programs are in. Save a new drawing to the other drive when it is a small file and then continue working on it.
Thanks BCDEB.
Yes I use different hard disk for data.
Maybe the brush is too complicated as explained in attached file.
Xara X seems to redraw almost everything after every new line. Still I think there is no vector editor which has fast enough brush drawing.
How about using layers to store the stages of drawing. Store the current state of drawing in the separate layer and use the bitmap copy of that stage for faster editing.. (switch the layer with the vector originall, off) then when you are finished delete the bitmap copies of the stages and enable all layers visible. It's just an idea... I didn't test it yet.
Thanks Dmagician. You are right. I use layers and it works better when some layers are inactive.
trying new brush and another trial. The design is copied from picture shown in the magazine.

Isn't XaraX the ONLY vector program (except RealDRAW, but that's different) that can render vector brushes?
All these pictures are very well done and very creative, this is a great new feature to X no?

Steve -- No. FreeHand 10 and CorelDRAW both have brush cabalities. Only Xara has implemented the brush to a much greater degree supporting transparency, line shaping, and a lot more control over all.
I'm not sure about Canvas either. I'm doing a review of version 8 next month so I'll get back when I have taken it out of the box.
Katsu -- your images are beginning to look like ink on wet paper.

for those who are interested in my brush attached is the way I created. Please note I had experienced sometime the error and the data was gone.
Thanks for comments Steve and Gary.
Gray: Yes that is the finish I wanted to make in XX. My trial of brush then started. I know it will be more easier to use other software but I wanted it in XX. Although the finish is not perfect but is acceptable for me at moment.
Katsu
Tried blends with my brush and had as attached.
